Eligibility
Iowa National Guard members who are a current, active member of the Iowa National Guard, regardless of the branch to which that member belongs and whether deployed or on another status.
Immediate family members of the Iowa National Guard member. This would include the member’s mother, father, current spouse, children including natural children, legally adopted and step children 18 years of age and under as well as disabled natural children, legally adopted and step children of any age if living with the Iowa National Guard member.
Requests not considered for funds
Political organizations, projects or campaigns
Financial request for household maintenance/improvements, vehicle purchase/repair/maintenance or medical bills
Activities which are the primary responsibility of federal, state or local governments and agencies (such as the Red Cross, Department of Human Services, Veterans Affairs, etc)
Activities which are the primary responsibility or focus of other organizations or agencies better suited to handle the subject matter of the request, e.g. financial counseling agencies, etc.
Auxiliary Approval Procedures
A request for funds shall be directed to any member of the Board of Directors of the Auxiliary. All reasonable attempts shall be made by the Board member first contacted to reach all other Board members. As soon as practical after a request is received, the Board of Directors shall meet to determine whether the request meets the guidelines of this Policy. An affirmative vote of a majority of the members of the Board of Directors shall constitute approval of the request. If a request for funds is made as a result of an emergency situation, defined for purposes of this Policy as imminent death, the approval of only two members of the Board of Directors shall be required for approval of the request.
